Diamond Candle Review

 Saturday, September 8, 2012

This summer I have become obsessed with candles. I have tried several different brands, sizes, and scents. I'm actually burning a lemon tart as I type this post!

I consider myself well connected on the internet and I thoroughly enjoy reading other bloggers' posts. While browsing my blog feed in google reader I came across a product called Diamond Candles and I was intrigued.

Diamond Candles are all natural soy candles that are made with a surprise inside. The candles range in scents inspired by everything from pretty flowers to yummy desserts. My favorite part about these candles are that each Diamond Candle has a hidden ring somewhere inside.

I love Grab-bags. I have always been more interested in the surprise of not knowing what your getting. The ring idea really caught on with me. Diamond candles puts a beautiful ring in every candle. The value of the ring can be anywhere from $10 to $5,000.

I was a little skeptical at first. Does the company really give away a $5,000 diamond ring in a $25 candle? The answer is yes! If you search diamond candle on youtube or even on google you will find customers who have been lucky enough to find that holy grail candle.

I decided that I needed to try a diamond candle. I of course was hoping that I would be that lucky winner of expensive jewelry. I also wanted to see if the actual candle could compare to the other candle brands I had been trying all summer.

I chose to review a honeysuckle candle. Honeysuckle is not usually the first scent I choose when I want to buy candles but at the same time its refreshing and smells lovely. The Diamond Candle honeysuckle scent is hands down the best honeysuckle I have ever smelled. Its floral but also somewhat sweet. It reminds me of gardens and summer!

The diamond candle is actually quite large at 21 oz. When I received my candle I was slightly dissapointed. The company marks where the ring is hiding and some people are lucky enough to have a candle close to the surface. Unfortunately my ring was hiding deep into the candle which meant that I was going to have to patiently.

An interesting thing to note about Diamond Candles is that the candle doesn't burn like other brands' candles. The wax from a Diamond Candle gets oily when melted and does not harden as quickly as other candles. There is no advantage either way, I was just not expecting the greasy texture of the wax.

My Diamond Candle was highly scented and took a very long time to melt. These in my opinion are extremely good characteristics in a candle.

Now to the fun part.... the reveal!

See how deep my ring was!

I couldn't wait to see my ring so once I got close enough I caved in and wrestled my ring out of the wax.

I used a tweezer as my weapon of choice. The ring is wrapped around in tinfoil and then another little bag so it is secured and will not touched by the wax.

My ring is so pretty! Unfortunately it was not a real diamond ring but for costume jewelry this is very good quality. I also think I lucked out with this simple ruby design.

Now onto the nitty gritty.

Pros of the Diamond Candles: I love the candle scent and the size. The jar itself is a nice shape and does not take up too much room. The ring quality was great and the price point is right on for a ring-and-candle combination.

Cons: I think the ring should be closer to the top of the candle. Its just too hard to stay patient with such a long burning candle. The only complaint I really have however is that you should be able to specify your ring size when ordering the candles. I am a size 8 and my ring is between a 6-7 so it doesn't fit like I would prefer it too.

I would recommend these candles for someone who has a standard 7 ring size and likes surprises! The scents are also amazing and the quality of the wax is impressive.

Here are some pictures of rings customers got from their Diamond candles!

Have you ever tried Diamond Candles? Go to the website and let me know your favorite scent!

I've never heard of that before! And being from NC, it's pretty cool that they're made in Durham! It's a just a really cool thing. I wonder how they afford to put a ring that expensive inside a $25 candle! Crazy!

Ummmm that is a super fun idea! That'd be a fun gift for someone! Love it! xoxo

Alice September 8, 2012 at 5:01 PM

This is so insanely cool!
I remember reading something a while back about Diamond Candles. It didn't seem possible for them to really put a ring inside of a candle so I completely brushed off the idea.
Needless to say, I must admit that I was wrong!
A ring and an amazingly scented candle? How could you say no to that?!
Since I'm luckily a size 6/7ish, I'll definitely have to check out these candles :)

Thanks for this amazing review darling! <3

P.S. I really do wonder how they can afford to put rings inside every candle if the candles are only $25. That is seriously super awesome!

I have been contemplating buying one of these for several weeks... and I think your review just convinced me to do it! Plus, I found a deal to get 2 for $27 :) And only $2 shipping and handling. I'm going for it! Definitely going to post about it!

Here's a review I sent to Diamond Candles, please BEWARE:

I was told by your customer service that candles 2 of 3 candles I had ordered the end of August were all of a sudden out of stock and that is why I had yet to receive them. Then I was told I can sign up for email notification for the scents I ordered and then reply back to let them know that they are back in stock and I need the candles so that they can send out the candles manually from your stock. What the....????!

My concern is that when I selected the Orange Vanilla and the Summertime they were IN STOCK. That's how I was able to even put them in the cart to check out. I have to say, this is a little disheartening and I don't know that if I pick another IN STOCK scent that that will even really be in stock?! Truthfully, I will just sign up for the scent report and contact you immediately when i get notification that they are back IN STOCK but I will be unlikely to order again. I love the product but your company has over $82.00 of my money and I have to chase the product instead of the company fulfilling back orders when items come back into stock. Seems like a good way to make people pay and not deliver and hope they forget about it. That's called a scam. I just don't know how Diamond Candles can consider themselves a reputable business this way.

I was then told this was a flaw in your system. It's 2012, are you joking? Get it together, please. Your product is nice, but I shouldn't be the responsible party to have to chase you down for what I paid for. If I just forgot about it then you would have kept my money and never gave me a product because you can't fulfill back orders. That's insane! Thankfully I did remember and I did email customer service asking about the order. SHAME ON YOU DIAMOND CANDLES!!!!

Chris Day November 3, 2012 at 4:46 PM

Dear Preppy Student - Blog Editor, ( If I may refer to you as an Editor...)

My Name is Chris Day. I'm the Founder and President of Marquee Candles. I found your post above and thought you might find our product (Marquee Candles) interesting. And I'm wondering if there is another means (an email address) available so that I might share more with you about Marquee Candles.

You see, at Marquee Candles we are "Putting Prize Back In Surprise", that's our tagline, and we are doing it by putting only Genuine Diamond, Emerald, Pearl, Ruby or Sapphire piece of Jewelry in our wonderfully scented soy candles, (No Lab Creations).

Every Candle is guaranteed to have a genuine precious gem stone piece of jewelry in it with a guaranteed minimum $40 value (again that is Guaranteed). But that is just the minimum, as the prize values range from $40 - $400 - $4,000 to $8,000.

Plus, we’ve added some fun features to the joy of owning a Marquee Candle. 1.) A notable feature is our candle container, which is a durable yet elegant stemless wineglass, which offers the owner, of a Marquee Candle, a wonderful piece of glassware after the life of the candle. 2.) The next notable quality is that every piece of jewelry in the Marquee Candle “Prize Pod” comes with a serial number, which you can enter into our facebook fan page. You can click on our “Verify Prize Value” tab/application and enter your prize serial number. Our application then accesses a database and returns an immediate response to you detailing the type of jewelry (ie. ring, earrings, pendent, etc) the type of stone (Diamond, Emerald, Pearl, Ruby or Sapphire), the stone cut (princes cut, marquise cut, emerald cut, round cut teardrop cut, etc.,), the stone weight, additional stone information and weight, and the metal stamp (.925 Sterling Silver, 10K-14K-18K Gold -yellow or white, platinum, etc.,). It’s a great application that provides our customers, or guests as we like to refer to them, with an instant report as to the valuation of their jewelry. All of which can be printed too.

It’s worth mentioning that a guest/customer would have to purchase (4) of our competitor’s candles at ($30 each = Product price plus S+H) for a grand total of $120 in order to get $40 dollars worth of jewelry (each valued at $10 mind you) whereas with a Marquee Candle… all a Guest / Customer has to do is purchase (1) at our premier rate of ($54.95) and that Guest / Customer is guaranteed to receive a piece of jewelry with a minimum $40 value made with Real Precious Stones (No Lab Creations) That simple… Plus you can go straight to our Facebook fan page and instantly verify your jewelry value and print it out too…

Anyway, those are some highlights of Marquee Candles. I would love to speak with you in more detail. Our sight is www.marqueecandles.com and our facebook page is www.facebook.com/MarqueeCandles. If you would be interested in chatting more about our Marquee Candles, which we just launched 9 days ago, we would love to hear from you. You can contact me at GuestServices@marqueecandles.com.

I look forward to hearing from you should you find an interest.
Kindest Regards,
Chris Day,

Most Diamond candles have very little scent and just aren't worth the money. However, the most disappointing thing is their INCREDIBLY POOR, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! They never have many of their fragrances in stock, and when there is a problem with an order or a candle, good luck in trying to talk to someone. There is no phone # published, and you can only send them e-mails (which they take their sweet time in responding to). Then, they don't offer help in solving your problem. I've wasted over $60 on product that arrived damaged or didn't arrive at all. Don't waste your money!

Resources, including links to applicable laws and regulations and downloadable forms, are provided
as well. Children should pay attention to their parents for
mainly two reasons: 1) it is for their own good (parents know what is best for their children), and 2) it is to return their parents love (children show respect and
honor for their parents when they pay attention to their advice).
The scratching, however, causes wounds and
never alleviates the itch.

aromatherapy over other smoking methods for herbs.
You can easily shop around the Internet and while
doing so you can look for reviews on the various
models you may be considering. Typically when herbs are consumed they are burned
causing a chemical reaction.

reducing dryness and calming coughs. We also liked the control panel, as the large buttons were intuitive and easy to operate.

At first I loved diamond candles to but I got my first one twelve days after ordering it. I then decided to buy more for my family for mothers day. $87 later I haven't received my candles and I'm getting the run around from a so called "customer service" lady Jessica. I also paid a hefty price of about $30 for expedited shipping which said 2 day shipping and I ordered on the 29th of April today being may 10th I still haven't received my candles or a proper answer or a refund.. so as nice as the candles may seem please don't waste your time or money .. if they rip off a few people at almost $100 each they're making out with quite a bit of money.. I'm reporting them to the BBB tomorrow.. so please once again beware. that company sucks !

If anyone claims they are putting REAL diamonds in each candle, they are telling a fib. I know diamond candles doesn't do that, but there are other candle makers who are saying that. No they don't. I got one from a company who said "We put real diamonds in our candles", I did a magnet test and it was a dud. The "diamond" was CZ. They lied. Diamond candles jewelry is cheap, but at least they don't lie.

Anonymous,  November 21, 2013 at 1:26 PM

There have been several people that have found rings with real diamonds. Please do your research before you assume that they are always CZ rings.

Bought a gift card. On the website, the recipient wasn't given the chance to use it. She followed the site's instructions to the letter. Made her enter billing info (not that unusual these days), but gave no opportunity to use the card.

Billed me $25. Billed her $39. Won't refund either. Haven't fulfilled the order.

Received a form letter saying, in essence, "Have a nice day, but no refund for you."

In this they are mistaken. Disputing the bill. They'll refund it one way or another.

Others have had good luck and it is a great idea, but I wouldn't touch this company with a barge pole.
